In Science we did an interesting experiment today which mimicked how salmon might find their own "home" stream by smell alone. Students were grouped into 6 groups, originally simply named A, B, C, D, E, F.
They were blindfolded, allowed to memorize the smell of "their" home stream (which was a paper cup with a cotton ball infused with a particular scent), then they had to make their way across the ocean (the carpet) and find that same scent by smell alone.

As you can see from the chart below the mystery scents were vanilla, soya sauce, Worcestershire sauce, ginger, garlic, and lemon juice.

Students whose scent was vanilla, soya, Worcester had a slightly higher success rate than the students whose scent was ginger, garlic, or lemon.
